Usually these scholarships are focused on graduate levels, however, so many are available for high school seniors as well. Seniors are those in the final year in high school. They have scaled through the freshman year, sophomore year, junior year, and are now going to the senior year.

In your senior year, you are one final step closer to college. It is the final year in high school so typically, your grades matter a whole lot. With the constantly increasing tuition fees, paying your way out of school can be a hustle. That is where these cool scholarships come in. They are run by private or public organizations, they have various requirements, and offer different amounts. Some may cover full time tuition fee while some offer certain amounts.   • Coca-Cola Scholars Program

Yes. Cola-Cola has scholarships for seniors in high school too. 150 awards of $20,000 are given out each year. Depending on your school, you can cover tuition, study materials, and still have some to spare! Coca-Cola Scholars are judged based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities, leadership experience, and community service. The application will open in August; the submission deadline is typically in October 1.

  • Gates Millennium Scholarship

This scholarship is based on merit and financial need. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program, was funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It was established in 1999 and has since been providing so many scholarships. Applicants are judged on academic performance, leadership skills, and community service. This scholarship is open to minority students who are enrolling at a US college or university and who are in good schools across the United States. It opens in August, and the submission deadline is usually in January.

  • Anne Ford Scholarship

The scholarship provided by Anne Ford, is a $10,000 scholarship. It is spread as $2,500 per year over four years and is granted to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability (LD) and ADHD. The essence is for enrolment into a full-time bachelor’s degree. It is for students who have keen interest in participating in school and community activities, those who demonstrate financial, those who excel as role models, and a few more criteria. You also have to have an overall grade point of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale. Applications would be accepted from August 1 and ends November 13th.

  • CIA Undergraduate Scholars Program

The Undergraduate Scholar Program is a financial needs based scholarship program for seniors in high school. It is a fulltime scholarship located in the metropolitan area of Washington DC. It offers students work experience, work sessions during study breaks, and a chance to apply your academic skills. Once selected, you would be given an annual salary. It includes health insurance, life insurance, and retirement. You would be given an annual scholarship award of $18,000. Certainly one of the coolest scholarships for seniors in high school.

  • Filene Music Scholarship

The Filene Music Scholarship is awarded yearly through a competition conducted by Skidmore’s department of music. You do not have to have studied music to be a part of this, but you may have functioned in a related activity during your school days. The annual scholarship is $12,000 and it is awarded to competition winners without consideration of financial need. It is credited in instalments of $6,000 each. At least four scholarships are awarded to each incoming senior class. Three of the awards are solely on musical excellence, and the fourth would be awarded to meet the department’s current needs.

  • Burger King Scholars Program

Burger King has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships since its inception in 1998. They also offer one of the best scholarships for seniors in high school in the United States. The Award amounts usually vary.  They can be as low as $1,000 and as high as $50,000. The amount you get is based on certain factors prescribed by them. Applicants to this scholarship are judged on their GPA, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service. Eligible applicants are high school seniors in the United States who plan on going to college or vocational/technical school.

  • Horatio Alger Scholarship Award

This scholarship specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles. They seek out students who have exhibited determination, integrity and those who have financial need. To be generally eligible, your gross adjusted family income must be at or below $55,000. At the national level, there are 106 $22,000 awards; there are also state scholarships that range between $6,000 and $10,500. When it comes to scholarships for seniors in need, they rank high. It is open to US high school seniors who plan on getting a BA and the application submission deadline is usually in October.

  • Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is funded by the GM Foundation. They have donated and given grants in hundreds of millions of dollars to various charities and educational organizations since 1976. This particular scholarship program is meant for students who plan on pursuing a degree in technology or engineering. Applicants are judged both on academic merit and financial need. Also, the lucky recipients can receive up to $25,000 for up to 4 years – that is a total of $100,000.

  • Tom George Scholarship

The Tom George Scholarship is available for seniors from Horlick High School who plan on attending the University of Wisconsin, Madison. It is pretty specific but a good number of people fall in this category. They emphasize on strong academic performance and must not be receiving another scholarship to be eligible for the award.   • AXA Achievement Scholarship

This scholarship is open to high school seniors who will attend college in 2016-2017. It is targeted to towards students who have empowered society through certain achievements that mitigate risk. In general, there are a total of 52 $10,000 regional awards. One winner is then chosen from each state, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico. Ten national winners receive an additional $15,000 each at the successful completion of the scholarship process.
